This is CriticalBlue

Speaker: Barry O'Rourke

ICSA is starting a series of talks from local compiler firms who will tell us about some of the interesting research/development they're up to.

This is great chance for people to find out about Scottish companies.

Please, come along to the first talk from CriticalBlue http://www.criticalblue.com/, a company which was spawned out of the University in 2003 exploring automated embedded system design solutions.

Barry has been involved with designing and programing processor based systems for over 10 years. Currently he spends his time helping customers integrate CriticalBlue technologies into their product designs and wider design flow. Prior to CriticalBlue, Barry worked on high performance graphics processor design at Imagination Technologies and then on modeling multiprocessor automotive systems at Cadence.

Barry holds an Honors degree in Computer Science and Electronics from the University of Edinburgh.

Abstract

This brief talk will cover the development of Edinburgh based CriticalBlue over its 6 years of existence. I hope to provide useful insights into the kind of business and technological challenges faced by a small company in the incredibly competitive embedded technology sector.
