Title:  Computing pi the slow way.

Abstract:  Gregory's series for pi is one of the earliest series that enables computation of the digits of pi. Its convergence is painfully slow, however, so it is only recently that it has been noticed that it has a weird behaviour.

For example, summing the first 500,000 terms gives a decimal expansion that is correct for 5 places, wrong at the sixth, but correct for the next 10 places.  What is going on?
