Information structure, three ways

 

Abstract:

 

Three things that LFCS is famous for

    Databases

    Category theoretic foundations and

    Bidirectional transformations

are intimately, and quite simply, related.  And the relationships have explicit industrial benefits too.  This talk is aimed at giving a brief overview of the relationships and some of their applications.  I'll do my best to make the talk comprehensible to the union (rather than the intersection) of the people who know about those areas, so there will be very little assumed knowledge required.

 

If you'd like to know more, well, it all boils down to categorical universal algebra.  But that sounds complicated, and really, it's fairly simple.  If you can spare a little while on Thursday I'll show you...
