Quantum theory is typically described as counter-intuitive. The distinct feature that made Einstein mostly unsatisfied, is that it exhibits non-locality, i.e. that objects can instantaneously influence other objects even when they are in the other end of the universe. This property, recently tested beyond any (reasonable) doubt, enables a new level of security where parties do not need to trust their own devices (device-independent). I will introduce these concepts and then briefly describe (1) how to share a secret key and (2) verify the correctness of a quantum device in a device-independent way.
